  1. Voting Question: It it just me?
  2. 31 May 2008 at 4:11pm
I supported To Write Love on their Arms until I found out about how badly they handle their money. I feel they are nothing more than an organization taking advantage of the hype. The fact that 75% of revenue goes to office expenses to respond to emails and messages seems really high considering they sell a lot of shirts. Anybody else feel this way? http://www.twloha.com/faq.php Q: Where does the money go? A: TWLOHA gives 25% of all proceeds directly to treatment and recovery through the organizations listed below. Beyond that, we believe that all the work we do is important, not just donating to treatment and recovery. We have a small staff, and that includes part-time help who respond to MySpace messages and emails everyday. Check their FAQ I copied and pasted it word for word. 25% goes towards recovery.

  5. Resolved Question: free rice....?
  6. 31 May 2008 at 3:50pm
Ive been playing freerice.com for a long time and i was wondering if there was a website like free rice but for animals instead. for anyone whos unaware of what free rice is, its a website that gives you a word and you have to pick the word that means the same thing, and for every one you get right some food organization gives 20 grains of rice to the world hunger thing, which feeds people who dont get food. I was wondering if there is anything like it, but for feeding animals.

I understand that African American only scholarships are perfectly legal to offer assuming the creator of said scholarship does so with independently earned money. HOWEVER, I attend a public high school which often posts information and announces these scholarships, which means they are using OUR tax dollars (either my teh labor hours of the office attendants, or the bandwith the school pays for the website) to promote these incredibly racist scholarships. From what I understand, this is illegal. Not to mention, my school accommodated an NAACP assembly during school hours which students were more or less required to attend. This means, again, that my tax dollars helped fund and spread information on a racist organization which Is considered private, thus giving them the constitutional right to bar me from membership. But if they are using my tax dollars, then I should be allowed membership, is that not true?

  9. Resolved Question: Constitutional Right to Vote in Primaries?
  10. 31 May 2008 at 3:23pm
Do people really believe they have a right to vote in the primaries? There is no constitutional right to vote in primaries. The Constitution does spell out voters rights whenever there is an election - you cannot be discriminated against based on your race, sex, or age as long as you're over 18. States may not impose a poll tax. But other than that, there's nothing that gives anyone the right to vote in a presidential primary. Political parties are private organizations, as ruled by the Supreme Court, and are free to select their nominees any way they see fit. The Libertarians didn't have primaries. Nobody is up in arms about how they lost their rights there. The simple fact is the DNC could do rock, paper, scissors if they wanted to.... It's their game, you have to play by their rules. So, will this end all of the "my rights were taken away from me" posts?

  11. Resolved Question: Need some advice?
  12. 31 May 2008 at 2:52pm
ok. friend, who I've known since highschool back in '86, is getting married for the first time in August. Her fiance is an old blind guy. (he's in his 60s; we're turning 40 next year) Church won't let them get married unless they live 90 days apart before the wedding. (most respectable churches do this. ours was 6 months. Churches are private organizations who make their own rules and if you don't like them, you don't have to get married there.) We warned her about this before she sold her condo and moved into his apartment, but because she chooses not to work (she watches my son a couple days a week for a couple of hours) the apartment was a more financially feasable option. She is now showing up at our house around the time I'm winding down for the night and assuming that every night's a slumber party. I get up 4:30-5 AM; she sleeps until about 10 or 11 every morning. I can't take it much longer. She's been at her mom's 3 hours away since like Wednesday, and it has been so wonderful! We need our lives back...she's driving me nutz and it's trickling into my work, my relationship with my husband and my son. I can't do this any more! I need kind words to tell her. PLEASE! Oh and we've arranged babysitting with the grandmas, so her little "job" isn't an issue if she decides to quit. He's not rich. He's blind and on disability. We're really her only option if she wants to stay local, and I can't do this anymore.

  29. Resolved Question: Organizing, how do you do it?
  30. 31 May 2008 at 1:26pm
I have difficulties in organizing, which I think also has to do with how organized my thoughts may be. Nevertheless I still would like to learn the tactics of organization from other people and see how I can manage with some new and interesting ideas. Which might answer to another question; are people just born with being organized or it's something that has to be learned?

  32. 31 May 2008 at 1:15pm
whole organization and there fans are still complaining about obstruction among other things. When will the whining stop? I have seen more press report about Penguins and there coaches complaining more than anyone, ever. Wat else I have to question here. Doesn't Pitt do the same things for Crosy? As a player myself, the last thing I would do is call what the Wings do"obstruction" and call it "position". Again Detroit will play Red Wing Hockey and simply win the Cup! Every other blog, thread and the like Pitt fans (bandwagon) lead the list of Detroit and Red Wing players and fans bashing. Again where's the class. Maybe the NHL should move this frnachise to Canada afterall, where people who love hockey won't abandon their team or tlak crap when they know nothing about the game. Why do you think there is such a turn out for Pitt nowadays? Because it aint football season! Oh, by the way, congrats on the "66" sell outs this year, ha, ha, ha. About time they fill that little dump you call the "Igloo" with all of your obstructed view seats!

  33. Resolved Question: Do you like the way Big Business in working in America?
  34. 31 May 2008 at 1:05pm
Big Business or is a term used to describe large corporations, in either an individual or collective sense. The term first came into use in a symbolic sense subsequent to the American Civil War, particularly after 1880, in connection with the combination movement that began in American business at that time. Organizations that fall into the category of "big business" include ExxonMobil, Wal-Mart, Google, Microsoft, Citigroup and Arcelor. The social consequences of the concentration of economic power in the hands of those persons controlling "Big Business" has been a constant concern both of economists and of politicians since the end of the 19th century. Various attempts have been made to investigate the effects of "bigness" upon labor, consumers and investors, as well as upon prices and competition. "Big Business" has been accused of a wide variety of misdeeds that range from the exploitation of the working class to the corruption of politicians and the fomenting of war. Hello any one out there. Gotcha it's not interesting.

If you know the name of the org, it would be appreciated.

  41. Resolved Question: how do I board a domestic flight with an online ticket?
  42. 31 May 2008 at 11:36am
Ok, this is going to sound really stupid, but I've never flown by myself before so I need a little help. I'm flying out to an event, and the flight is paid for by the organization hosting the event, so I received a "travel invoice" in my email with the flight info (where I depart, flight times, airline, and a code for me to log into the airline's website). Now I know thats not the actual ticket. What do I need with me when I go to board the plane? Will the airline have my info when they check me in? Is the ticket something I have to print from the airline website? When I logged onto the airline website, I had options to change my seat and to "check in", which can't be done until 24 hours before. Any guide of guide would be good, thanks. so basically, bring an ID to check in, get my boarding pass, and then head over to security/gates? If its a domestic flight, how much earlier should I arrive to make sure I have time? Is it still a 2 hour rule? thanks!

  43. Resolved Question: Why not invade Sudan and make it right?
  44. 31 May 2008 at 11:36am
Everyone's heard about the Genocide happening in Darfur and it's Sudanese government along with the Janjaweed which they support and assist on this Genocide. The U.N. which has over 130 countries in it's organization, whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress and human rights issues, has not called the killings in Darfur "Genocide". Even if they did, their entry to this Country and attaining the victims are most difficult due to the Sudanese Government! If a Country like Irak was invaded because of it's "evil" shouldn't Sudan be up there a thousand ranks higher!! What are your thoughts.. should a G8 Country invade Sudan, or any capable Country for that matter? Although it might be unavoideable for some to be killed, the Sudan government should be removed by force, unless they co-operate and stop the killings.. which are not happening because they are part of the cause. I am not for killing, but the talk with the Sudan government are stalling while more and more killings are happening. What is right? - Not to kill (put them in jail) What is wrong? - Kill Although it might be unavoideable for some to be killed, the Sudan government should be removed by force, unless they co-operate and stop the killings.. which are not happening because they are part of the cause. I am not for killing, but the talk with the Sudan government are stalling while more and more killings are happening. If a Genocide happened in the States or Canada and the governments are involved in it, don't you think it would be wrong? Wouldn't other Countries come and stop this? By force if need be? What is right? - Not to kill (put them in jail) What is wrong? - Kill Although it might be unavoideable for some to be killed, the Sudan government should be removed by force, unless they co-operate and stop the killings.. which are not happening because they are part of the cause. If someone can't tell that this is wrong! Man I wouldn't want to hang around him.

  49. Resolved Question: How can I practice Spanish online?
  50. 31 May 2008 at 10:59am
I'm looking to meet people online who are Spanish speakers learning English, so that we can both practice our second language. I've gone to some Spanish chatrooms, but many times it's just a bunch of people being silly and making fun of one another. What I want to do is take my Spanish to the next level and become fluent, not just chat. Is there an organization or a website that specializes in this?

  51. Resolved Question: "Friends" since 1986...?
  52. 31 May 2008 at 9:11am
ok. My best friend from highschool is finally getting married at age 39. First marriage for her, about 5th for him. He's in his mid-60s and blind. She's not legally disabled but doesn't work, other than watching my son on the days that I can't get out of work before my husband needs to leave for his job. The wedding is scheduled for 8/8/08. The church says that they can't live together the 90 days before the wedding. A church is a private organization and can decide who they can marry; the church we married in had a 6-month requirement. If one doesn't like this rule, one can get married elsewhere. She's been living with him, but she stops by here to sleep and recieves some mail here. She shows up when I'm winding down for the night (usually during the 10:00 news). I get up at 4:30-5:00. She sleeps unitl 10-11, and thinks that every night is a slumber party. Her lack of consideration for our lives is trickling into other areas (like my work and my relationship with my husband and child) and I'm tired of it. I don't know if I can do this for another 2 months. She's been up at her mom's doing wedding invites for the last couple days and it's been really nice not having her. Should we give her the boot? The two days that she watches our son could be covered by the grandmas, one who is whining that she never gets to see him (I told her that I have to take out a second mortage to afford gas to get to her house) What do you think? Boot her and get our lives back? Her mom is about 3 hours away, but that would probably be good place for her. I never thought of the angle that she shouldn't be sharing a place with a married man. The chuch hasn't checked up on her in any way, shape, or form, either.

  54. 31 May 2008 at 9:08am
Do they pay back this loan with interest? Who is the rightful owner of the property after the loan is paid for? Who pays for this loan and the interest? Is any of this kind of loaning money in the bible somewhere? I'm very curious how this works. sherry b, on the contrary. I'm not trying to make JWs look bad. I thank you for your informative answer. If you would next time be so kind as to ask me why I asked a question I would gladly answer. I ask because in another Q&A there was a comment made that JWs pay interest back to the organization and some other comments were made and this is one way I can possibly get other oppinions from JWs to possibly clarify this. So next time ask ok. Don't be so negative, its very unbecoming. and to answer your question about is there any other organization that does what you described.....Christianity does this and more. Another reason I asked the question. Since JWs were given so much bad light on how their organization is a money making machine, this may help clarify some misconceptions. You can see for yourself how other churches build places of worship in my other question. sherry b, thank you for your appology and I'm sorry you took this wrong. I was actually surprised to see your appology since so many times asking a question about your religion gets such negative feedback. Thank you papa bear: the mega churches are paid for and the people attending them donate to keep it going and are happy with them. its not the size of the temple, its how you use it.

How Christian Missionaries Spread their CRAP faith amongst local Poor Hindu Populations in India ? The Committee recorded that "there was a general complaint from the non-Christian side that the schools and hospitals were being used as means of securing converts." It said that "Reference was also made to the practice of the Roman Catholic priests or preachers visiting newborn babies to give ?ashish? (blessings) in the name of Jesus, taking sides in litigation or domestic quarrels, kidnapping of minor children and abduction of women and recruitment of labour for plantations in Assam or Andaman as a means of propagating the Christian faith among the ignorant and illiterate people." The report writes that especially Roman Catholic missions used money-lending as a device for proselytisation. They gave loans which were later written off if the debtor became a Christian.

  62. 31 May 2008 at 3:25am
Am I the only one that finds it kind of sickening or ironic that non-profit organizations set up to aid the U.S. problem areas in times of natural disasters are on television pleading people to donate to them cause of natural disasters occuring in China? This question was written due to a number of reasons: 1. the U.S. relief fund was for U.S. relief, why should people donate to a fund that uses their donations elsewheres, not for the reason it was donated; 2. China has five times the people the U.S. does, it boasts one of the largest economies in the world; 3. The U.S. barely takes care of its own people in natural disasters such as Katrina and when it does so the money tends to be sent to the wrong people who commit fraud or otherwise; 4. it appears that no matter where or what disaster occurs people are trying to profit from it, regardless of help sent; 5. only a very small percent of donations ever tend to reach what the donations were ever intended for. By the way, the U.S. doesn't lead foreign aid expenditures, the U.K. does.

  74. 31 May 2008 at 1:54am
http://tvdecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/05/29/new-on-abc-to-catch-a n-illegal-alien/ As if our TV airwaves aren't polluted with enough fascist propaganda as it is, one of the most useless and unnecessary of all our unconstitutional government agencies is producing a propaganda program glorifying the Border Patrol, an organization that harasses and terrorizes peaceful immigrants who are trying to come to our country for a better life. It is in large part due to the Border Patrol's actions that our food prices are skyrocketing (crops are rotting in the fields because farmers can't hire the workers from Mexico that want jobs and therefore can't find anybody who will pick their crops). Why is the government polluting the airwaves with propaganda like this new show ABC is making? Isn't it time to abolish the Department of Homeland so-called Security (by the way, doesn't "Homeland" sound a little creepy and Nazi-like?) and therefore actually start to rollback Big Government?

  75. Resolved Question: Should TUCC have their tax-exempt status revoked?
  76. 31 May 2008 at 1:48am
"Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. Contributions to political campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) made on behalf of the organization in favor of or in opposition to any candidate for public office clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign activity. Violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes." http://www.irs.gov/charities/charitable/article/0,,id=163395,00.html I am strictly asking your opinion on this particular church, what say you? What about St. Sabina's? Sageund, I totally agree, any organization that breaks the law should have their tax-exempt status revoked. Right on! http://sweetness-light.com/archive/irs-investigates-church-after-obama-speech< br />

  77. Resolved Question: I have a question regarding the homeless?
  78. 31 May 2008 at 1:17am
I see all these people and organizations claiming to care about the homeless problem, but, when you actually contact them for help they tell you to pray or don't even reply. I pray everyday and I am still homeless and living on the streets. They have no problems taking your donations, but, don't want to give anything back to the truly needy. Is there anyone who actually cares? I didn't ask to be homeless, it just happened. I lost my job due to my health, I have tried to find work and no one wants to hire an over-the-hill out of work person with just a high school education. I don't drink or do drugs. Just some really bad luck and pray isn't helping. What can I do? Is there some sort of free training program that a man over 40 can take to get back into being a productive citizen? We can even call it a loan until I can get back on my feet. I really need a job and a safe place to stay. The street is not safe and the shelters are full of thieves and the mentally ill. Can anyone please help Please don't say something insensitive like telling me to sell my computer because the public library computer. Chops, how can I get ahold of you? Your email address is private? Can you please contact me. I really neet your help. Thank you.... I don't want to say anything out of disrespect for the church but they haven't been any help. Please keep in mind. I need more then prayer. I need a safe place to stay and a job. They can't offer me that, they just refer me to the shelter which is a very dangerous place. say whatever you wish. homeless people can have a p.o. box? I used my old address where I no longer live. I take it you don't give a damn about the poor. Maybe when you need help someday someone will treat you the same way. God bless you my friend. Your going to need it more them me... I didn't say I was in the US, did it? Why do you talk to me like I am some sort of liar? Why don't you read the bible. It may do you some good for judging people. Remember we have to be accountable for what we say and how we treat others... Your really a piece of work there David, what do you do by the way? I bet you have a nice life. Perhaps someday your life won't be the same judging by the way you treat others... Say what you will and It will all come back to you... Now I have a question for you? are you male or female or are you just confused about your gender? Now I get it. It must be do to Hormone Imbalance. It happens sometimes in woman. Please, don't take me the wrong way, but you name is David and your icon is a woman. The only reason why I am asking.... Chops if your reading this. I really need that job. If anyone knows how to get ahold of chops. Will you have that member contact me, please. Thank you

I was never a church goer, and then I walked away from God. I am so thankful I found my current church. Now I attend regularly my non-denominational Christian church where they lead people to a life changing connection with Jesus Christ who is God. Line Dancer: This questin is about YOUR experience, but still you took liberty to tell me that my church does not have the truth because youu organization has it, LOL..I tell you that your organization has its own truth its own Jesus its own salvation plan and its own Bible. I belong to a non-denominational Christian church, but we co-operate with different deniminations...and we try to reach out to people who do not have relationship with Jesus. Did Jesus ever claim to be Michael?? Jesus is God to me and you can have your own truth. Your free will

  85. Resolved Question: frustrated, I need help working with catagories in my addr...
  86. 31 May 2008 at 12:29am
I don't want another catagory, I don't care about the order of the names- I just want to add names to an existing catagory so I can mail a group. I have too many names, too many catagories and while I'm at it I've never figure out how to put organizations in my address book when they don't have a first, last name. I tried that...it doesn't work doing it that way... I did find I can click edit next to a contact and go to a dropdown box it gives me on a page for that individual contact. That was not in the help section or tutorial. The hard part is I have about a billion contacts in my address book. And some are organizations which I've never figured out how to add except to split the organization's name into a first/last which doesn't make for easy identification.... I quit adding names to my address book unless I'm sure I'll need them, because they're so many. I have my spam filter off completely. I lost too much when it was on, anyway. It never identifies spam right. Maybe I should just go delete hald my contacts.

I've had it with seeing stories of kids disppearing and the police doing nothing about it "because they don't have enough resources." What the heck?! So, can I form a group of volunteers in a non-profit agency that looks for these kids. Are there legalilties? If parents can't turn to police, they could turn to this organization.
